Located in the centre of downtown Auckland, St Matthews in the City has been described as the finest church of its type in New Zealand. A wonderful neo-Gothic structure in Oamaru sandstone, the church with its long windows, carvings and 300 hundred feet bell tower stands grand in the centre of the city.

As you enter the church you will notice the aisle is flanked by Oamaru stone columns and carved wooden pews. Black beams support the high pitch roof and the numerous stained-glass windows allow ample light to flood into the church. Not to be forgotten is The Father Henry Willis Organ used to play the wedding march on your special day, one of only two such instruments in this country. Its first NZ home was in the original Church over one hundred years ago.

St Matthews can seat up to 400 and is available for legal wedding ceremonies and many types of non-legal ceremonies including renewal of vow and pledging ceremonies.
