Christchurch’s geography and climate are ideal for ballooning and what could be more magical than saying your "I do's" in the sky as the sun rises, with the Southern Alps dominating the horizon to the west and the endless blue of the ocean to the east.

There is no other place in the world where it is possible to fly from the centre of the city in view of the ocean toward snowcapped mountains. The peace and gentleness of ballooning will astound you and the views are unsurpassable.

Everywhere in the world ballooning is best done in the calm of dawn. Start times vary with the season to capture the sunrise. They can be as early as 4.30am in the summer and as late as 7.30am in the winter. We often fly from parks within the city although the choice of launch site is weather dependent.
